
A round table discussion titled “Enhancing Graduates’ Competencies: In-Demand Skills in the Pharmaceutical Industry” was held at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.
The event was attended by A. A. Sadykova, Deputy Head of the Shymkent City Department of the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kh. D. Alzhanova, Director of the Association of Legal Entities “Damu Association of Medical and Pharmaceutical Organizations of South Kazakhstan Region”; Zh. D. Kenzhebayev, Advisor to the General Director of EcoPharm LLP; as well as representatives of employers.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Maria Ulasbekovna Anartayeva and Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs Bekaidar Kaldybayuly Nurmashev delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and employers.

During the event, several informative presentations were delivered. Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy K. E. Arystanbayev presented the work aimed at improving the professional competencies of graduates of the “Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology” educational program, as well as strengthening industrial practice.
Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology A. G. Ibragimova spoke about the professional profile of a pharmacist in the context of the development of the pharmaceutical industry. Meanwhile, Head of the Career Department E. Sh. Yunusmetov analyzed graduate employment indicators.
At the end of the meeting, employers asked questions and an open discussion took place among the participants. Employers shared their suggestions regarding specialists needed for their organizations and expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation with the academy.
Based on the results of the event, a relevant resolution was adopted, and participants completed a survey.
