On April 7, 2026, the International Student Scientific Olympiad among medical university students was held at S. D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, dedicated to the Day of Science Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The theme of the Olympiad was “Social Determinants of Health in the Context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”

The purpose of the event was to deepen understanding of the relevance of social determinants of health within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations (UN), to develop competent future specialists capable of comprehensively analyzing the impact of these factors on public health, to enhance students’ research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, as well as to strengthen international cooperation and academic ties.
Students of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy actively participated in the Olympiad, along with representatives of medical universities from Russia, Uzbekistan, Bashkortostan, and other regions. Students of the Faculty of Medicine — Madina Mamayeva, Diana Abdugazizova, Saule Sarybekova (group BM-CO-10-25), as well as Latofat Sunakbayeva and Vazira Ulugbekkyzy Farkhadova (group BM-MA-14-25) — demonstrated a high level of preparation and professional knowledge.
The team “Cure Vitae,” representing the academy, successfully defended their scientific projects, demonstrated the ability to comprehensively analyze current issues, and ultimately won an honorable third place.
This achievement clearly confirms the high level of education of the students, their scientific potential, and their interest in contemporary healthcare challenges. Such international scientific events contribute to the professional development of future medical specialists, help them recognize their role in the global healthcare system, and promote scientific activity.
