“Academic Integrity and Corruption Prevention”

On October 30, a round table on the topic “Academic Integrity and Corruption Prevention” was held at the Department of General Medical Practice-2 under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Gulzhan Nurbekovna Dossybayeva, with the supervision of the department assistants K.A. Sartayev and M.A. Taskynova.

Purpose of the Event - the purpose of the event was to develop the principles of academic integrity among students, explain the importance of honesty and fairness in the educational process, prevent corruption, and promote an anti-corruption culture.

During the event, the concept of academic integrity, its basic principles, and students’ responsibility in the educational process were discussed.

Students were informed about the main types of academic integrity violations. In particular, the discussion covered plagiarism, cheating, the use of cheat sheets, submitting another person’s work under one’s own name, providing false information, and using unauthorized materials during examinations.

In addition, students received information about the concept of corruption and its negative impact on society and the education system. Preventive measures against such forms of corruption as giving or receiving bribes and obtaining illegal advantages through personal connections and acquaintances were discussed.

During the event, students actively participated in the discussion, expressed their opinions, asked questions, and exchanged views on the topic. The students emphasized that academic integrity is important not only during their studies but also in their future professional careers.

Special attention was paid to the importance of this issue for medical students. The professional knowledge, honesty, and responsibility of future doctors directly affect the health and lives of patients.
