“An honest student – a qualified dentist” debate held

The Department of Microbiology, Allergology and Immunology of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy organized a debate event entitled “AN HONEST STUDENT – A QUALIFIED DENTIST” among the VM-SQAB-01-02-24 groups of the Dentistry educational program.
The main purpose of the event was to promote a culture of academic integrity among students, enhance professional responsibility, and develop critical thinking skills. Today, for future medical professionals, not only quality education but also honesty, professional ethics, and responsibility are considered essential values.
During the debate, participants shared their views on academic integrity, plagiarism, the ethics of using artificial intelligence, quality education, and the professional responsibility of future dentists. The teams defended their positions with clear arguments and critically responded to opposing opinions. In addition, the participants demonstrated a high level of preparation and debate culture.

The jury members included SKMA Compliance Officer Nurgali Alikhanovich Pernebayev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Meruert Meirambekovna Duisenbayeva, and Associate Professor of the department, Candidate of Medical Sciences Ratbek Sailaubekuly. The jury objectively evaluated the participants’ public speaking skills, quality of arguments, and level of topic presentation.
During the question-and-answer and counterargument stages, students actively exchanged opinions and widely discussed the importance of academic integrity. Participants emphasized that adherence to the principles of honesty in education is one of the key prerequisites for becoming a competitive and highly qualified medical professional.
At the end of the event, participants took the Academic Integrity Oath, promising to avoid plagiarism, study honestly, and uphold professional ethics. The best teams and active speakers were also awarded special nominations.
Such educational and intellectual events not only help shape students’ professional outlooks but also strengthen the values of responsibility, honesty, and professional culture.
