Presidential Assignment: Promoting a Culture of Greeting among Young People

On September 10, 2026, educational sessions and explanatory activities aimed at promoting a culture of greeting among young people were conducted among first-year students by the teaching staff of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and Social Sciences.
The event was organized to explain to young people the initiatives of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at developing a new culture of public ethics and communication, strengthening mutual respect, and promoting behavioral culture based on national traditions.
During the educational sessions, students were informed that greeting is one of the first and most important elements of interpersonal communication. A greeting expresses respect, attention, and goodwill towards another person. It was emphasized that observing proper greeting etiquette in everyday life is an important indicator of a young person’s culture and upbringing.
Particular attention was paid to the traditional greeting culture of the Kazakh people and such national values as respect for elders, consideration for others, politeness, etiquette, and mutual respect. Students were given practical examples of appropriate greeting etiquette in educational institutions, public places, family settings, and everyday communication.
During the sessions, students expressed their opinions and exchanged views on the communication culture of modern youth, the influence of social media on interpersonal relationships, and the importance of preserving national norms of etiquette.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that greeting is not merely a simple rule of etiquette, but an important value reflecting a person’s culture and upbringing. Students were encouraged to show respect for elders, consideration for others, and to build relationships based on cultural awareness, kindness, and mutual respect.
The explanatory activities were aimed at promoting among students the initiatives of the Head of State concerning public ethics, mutual respect, and a culture of communication, as well as fostering a high level of behavioral culture among young people based on national values.
